Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Forensic Assessment & Outpatient service, the Social Worker III - FAOS Not Criminally Responsible Program will carry out advanced professional duties as assigned including clinical assessment, treatment and counseling of legally mandated adults within the Calgary Zone in order to maintain a continuity in care philosophy. The primary patient/client population that this position serves is one with complex Forensic and Mental Health issues including of those individuals in the community legislated under the status of Not Criminally Responsible (NCR-MD). Working effectively within an interdisciplinary team the incumbent will provide therapeutic psychosocial interventions in an individual and group format, working with Individuals, and/or families as appropriate to establish and sustain effective treatment strategies for the offender. You will be responsible for consultation to the members of the interdisciplinary team and to other internal and external professionals. The incumbent will also establish & maintain liaisons with community partnerships, identify client needs and connection to community resources for the benefit of client discharge/transition and community reintegration. You will also be involved in aspects of program and policy development, evaluation & research and will participate in staff training and in-service education. Further this position will foster and maintain liaisons with outside justice agencies and professionals for the benefit of the clients and the program, and will perform all duties with a high degree of independence and in accordance with program and professional standards. Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have a Masters degree in Social Work (M.S.W) from an accredited and recognized University program. Current full registration/licensure with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) with the ability to perform restricted activities required. Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience in the Mental Health field required. Minimum 3-5 years clinical work experience at the MSW level working within a community mental health program required. Active working knowledge of current mental health legislation required. Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. In depth knowledge of Mental Health/Mental Illness required. Clinical experience in the provision of individual/group therapy modalities required. Non-violent crisis intervention required. Travel within Calgary and the surrounding area may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical experience working with a forensic mental health population preferred. Community Mental health experience working with forensic populations preferred. Couples and Family therapy an asset. Active working knowledge of Criminal Justice Systems an asset.
