Your Opportunity:
As the Unit Manager (UM), you will provide leadership to staff in the RGH Urology. You will participate in budget planning; resource allocation; implementing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring, supervising and evaluating professional and support staff; and implementing changes to structure, processes and procedures in order to achieve improved outcomes in patient satisfaction, quality of care and resource utilization. The UM is responsible and accountable for making department level decisions and for providing front line team leadership to Unit 82. Additionally, the UM promotes excellence, safety, quality and support in the clinical provision of patient care. The UM is a strong leader who promotes professional team development and creates and sustains a healthy work environment which includes team culture, emotional resiliency, and occupational health and safety.
The UM coordinates staff to align with clinical demand, which includes recruitment, scheduling, retention, performance evaluation, and performance management, and possesses detailed knowledge of AHS policies and working within Collective Agreements. Additionally, the UM coordinates equipment and supply needs with fiscal evaluation. Where appropriate, the UM liaises with families to establish positive working relationships and promotes the principles of patient centred care. The successful incumbent will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills; self-direction, analytical, organizational, planning, coaching/teaching, decision making and financial management skills; conflict resolution and change agent skills; and possess a commitment to providing excellent service.

Required Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
- Current active registration (or eligible to be registered) and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
- Graduation from a recognized nursing education program.
- Current BCLS-HCP certification.
- Minimum three (3) years related experience in acute care with demonstrated clinical competence and knowledge of specialty area.
- Minimum three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role, ideally in a healthcare organization of significant size and complexity.
