Land & Economic Development Marketing Specialist

The Opportunity:
Specializes in the development, implementation and delivery of land and economic development marketing initiatives and projects. Researches, analyzes and compiles statistical, promotional and other related material on a regular basis. Develops, maintains, and enhances Land and economic development publications and web site. Responds and provides detailed written and verbal information to a wide variety of inquiries for land and economic development. Provides administrative support for the land and economic development section and department as assigned.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Undergraduate Degree, or equivalent, with emphasis on marketing, statistics, economics, business administration or communications. Four years office experience, including knowledge of basic office procedures in a land-related, economic development or marketing office or a related field, knowledge of advanced office procedures, computer skills and records management methods. Should have experience in research and special project activities, preferably including public contact at a semi-technical level, or equivalent.
- Ability to direct consultants on a day to day basis as well as approve and reconcile budgets and accounts for land marketing projects.
- Ability to work independently with general direction using initiative to prioritize duties, and organize workload efficiently to complete projects in an environment of constant interruptions, shifting priorities and deadlines, and to provide a high level of accuracy in working with figures, promotional information, reports and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability, knowledge and skill in the operation of MS Office (advanced word processing, spreadsheets and databases), web content management applications, ability to type at least 50 wpm.
- Ability to communicate and network effectively on a confidential basis, verbally and in writing, at a semi-technical level, with businesses, the public, professionals and other city departments.
- Ability to assess customer and stakeholder needs, business or land requirements, opportunities, and offer or persuade with alternate solutions.
- Knowledge of the operation of the city departments, and of community resources in the Red Deer area is preferred.
- Skills to respond courteously to inquiries and complaints by personal contact, correspondence and telephone.
- Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.

Remuneration:
$41.27 to $43.45 per hour. (2024 Rates)
Hours of Work:
37.5 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
