Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 10 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

The Role: Reporting to the Seafood Department Head (or his/her delegates), the Seafood Associate is responsible for preparing seafood products in advance for customers to choose from. The position also needs to stock seafood products onto the display cases in the sales area, follow FIFO concept, provide good service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory and product quality, follow FIFO concept, if applicable; ensure full display of various seafood products
  • Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
  • Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, include but not limited to catch, gut, descale, cut, wash, pack and label various seafood products and display them in the display coolers
  • Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm
  • Assist customers in selecting seafood products and provide recommendations to them, as required
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness, wash relevant work areas and fish tanks, and ensure working tools are clean and well-kept
  • Keep storage area, display cases and walk-in coolers clean and tidy

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

  • Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours, and statutory holidays
  • Able to use seafood cutters and other tools in a safe manner
  • Be prepared to stand long time and to hands on dealing with seafood products (live & frozen) and lifting of products of 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Be prepared to work in low temperature (0-4 ℃), freezing temperature (-18℃), and wet environment for long time
  • Not allergic to seafood and seafood products
  • Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) an asset
  • Knowledge of basic work safety
  • Relevant experience in handling seafood products is preferred
