We are currently seeking a permanent part time (0.64 FTE) Community Mental Health Worker 2 to join our Mental Health Substance Use/injectable Opioid Agonist Treatment (iOAT) department located at the Outreach Urban Health Centre in Kelowna, B.C.

What will you work on?
This position will support iOAT (injectable opioid agonist treatment) services in Kelowna. iOAT is an evidence based treatment intervention for people with severe opioid use disorder (OUD) who have been refractory to treatment with oral opioid agonist therapy (OAT). Injectable treatment has been demonstrated to have increased retention to care, decrease in illicit opioid use, and increased quality of life. It is part of the continuum of care when treating people with OUD.
The service requires that doses be administered in structured, supervised clinical setting, with sterile supplies and in clean and safe conditions, under supervision of qualified staff trained to intervene in the event of an adverse event or emergency. The position will be part of a team that provides multidisciplinary care where individuals receive, as needed and appropriate, primary care, mental health care, and psychosocial services including housing and employment support.
The Community Mental Health Worker 2 functions as a part of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) multi-disciplinary specialized team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with severe and persistent mental health problems and/or substance use disorders have access to timely, responsive, evidence based psychosocial rehabilitation across the continuum of available services.
Scheduling Information:
Shifts of work are rotating days & evenings; 13:30 to 20:30 hours.
