Introduction
Capital Projects Planning and Delivery (CPPD) is a division within the Department of Public Service Delivery. CPPD’s core business area responsibilities are Capital planning, technical services support, and the delivery of projects for core government departments. Furtherr esponsibilities include Central coordination, negotiation, and implementation of federal-provincial cost-shared capital infrastructure programs and projects.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must possess and maintain a full stage Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence.
- Must be willing and able to travel within the province by air or land with overnight stays.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- A Diploma or Cetificate in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institution, An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience reviewing construction related designs, drawings and specifications (electrical).
- Experience in the electrical design of building security, life safety/fire alarm, lighting systems.
- Experience preparing construction related electrical designs, drawings and specifications using AutoCAD software.
- Knowledge of Canadian codes, standards and engineering principles related to electrical design and construction.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
Desired:
- Extensive technical experience in the relevant consulting engineering field such as design, contract administration.
- Knowledge of preparing electrical cost estimates and cost analysis at various stages of the design process.
- Experience in managing projects from concept to completion.
- Ability to plan and execute the assigned duties in a systematic and efficient manner with some supervision
Duties:
In this position, under the guidance of a senior Engineer/Technologist the incumbent is responsible to design the electrical system that includes, preparing, interpreting, and reviewing technical drawings, designs and feasibility studies, cost analyses, estimates and tender documents, as well as producing technical designs and specifications using established engineering practices and applicable codes etc. The incumbent will all be working on Project Coordination & Inspection of projects as assigned using project management principles and standard contract administration practises. This includes Identifying and resolving administrative and technical problems as they occur throughout the project by communicating with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders on a regular basis. Performs site visits to inspect and monitor the construction of assigned projects and prepares inspection/deficiency reports and/or recommends acceptance of the work on behalf of the client and the Department.
