As the ideal candidate, you bring expertise in municipal infrastructure, including stormwater management, stormwater separation, water distribution and transmission systems, and sanitary collection systems. You thrive on leading multidisciplinary teams and are passionate about driving innovative projects that balance functionality with environmental responsibility.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Innovate: Act as Project Manager and Technical Lead on diverse municipal and infrastructure projects, from initial feasibility through to detailed design and implementation;
- Mentor and Inspire: Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional development while coordinating with in-house disciplines, including geotechnical, transportation, environmental, coastal, bridge, and water resources teams;
- Drive Business Growth: Contribute to business development by preparing proposals, engaging with clients, and expanding our services in stormwater and municipal engineering;
- Craft and Refine: Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, cost estimates, and tender documents, ensuring precision and compliance with municipal standards and regulatory requirements;
- Uphold Excellence: Oversee the preparation of contract documents and conduct quality checks on deliverables to maintain CBCL’s high standards, and
- Provide On-Site Expertise: Conduct site visits to gather data, evaluate existing infrastructure, and oversee construction to ensure design integrity and project success.
- Present findings at industry conferences and share expertise through technical papers and presentations;
- Develop and enhance tools, workflows, and design standards that improve project efficiency and outcomes; and
- Identify and explore new service areas to expand our Municipal Group.
- Educational and Professional Credentials: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration with provincial Engineering Associations;
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal infrastructure engineering;
- Technical/Design Expertise: Expertise in water distribution and/or sewer and stormwater infrastructure modeling, leading infrastructure capacity assessments, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, managing large, multidisciplinary municipal infrastructure projects, and possessing comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards;
- Collaborative Communicator: Excellent communication skills to convey technical information, develop reports and proposals, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders;
- Organized and Detail-Oriented: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain attention to detail, and oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring successful project delivery; and
- Experienced Relationship Builder: Strong capability to engage with clients, represent the company effectively, and contribute to business development efforts through proposal preparation and client interactions.
- Working in a leadership position with a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm for more than 10 years with the last 2 years leading and directing large municipal infrastructure projects;
- Familiarity with Atlantic Canadian regulations and municipal standards;
- Advanced skills in modeling software (e.g., SWMM, HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, WaterCAD);
- A commitment to sustainable infrastructure and innovative stormwater solutions; and
- Passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers and technologists.
