Position Overview

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Senior Accountant to report to the Assistant Controller. The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and financial services to the various business groups, which includes full cycle accounting up to and including financial statements and preparation. This is a full-time, hybrid position and will be based out of our Burnaby, BC office .

Responsibilities

• Assist and support in all aspects of month-end close, prepare and/or post journal entries.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, follow through on open items and associated journal entries.
• Maintain lease schedules for equipment leases and associated monthly journal entries.
• Maintain capital asset schedules and associated journal entries, reclasses for interbranch movement.
• Maintains debt schedules and prepares associated monthly journal entries
• Reconciles intercompany accounts, prepares and posts journal entries and eliminations at month end.
• Preparation of Inventory sheets, liase with branch for month end count and ERP reconciliation
• Imports and reconcile ERP cheques in SAGE, posts cashboxes, settlements, and inter branch ERP cheques.
• Performs bi-monthly Bank and ATM reconciliations
• Assist Assistant Controller in preparation of financial statements
• Prepares monthly Repair and Maintenance reports for financial statement package.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant Accounting and Finance experience, ASPE experience an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
• Advanced MS Office skills, specifically MS Excel required.
• Experience with Sage 300 an asset.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented and results driven; prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills.
• Highly effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information; uses diplomacy and tact in all interactions.
