About Your New Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Camp Operations, the Temporary Breakfast Cook, will work with other kitchen and housekeeping staff to ensure all kitchen dishware, cutler, pots and pans are consistently in a ready state of cleanliness and available as required when used to prepare camp meals.
Your Key Responsibilities

This position has a schedule of two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off at our remote camp in northern Saskatchewan, working 11-hour days with possibility of unscheduled overtime required on occasion. You will be required to fly in fly out of the site on designated days from a pick-up point in either Saskatoon, Prince Albert or La Ronge.

About Your New Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Camp Operations, the Temporary Breakfast Cook, will work with other kitchen and housekeeping staff to ensure all kitchen dishware, cutler, pots and pans are consistently in a ready state of cleanliness and available as required when used to prepare camp meals.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Production of soup, lunch, supper, and sauces.
- Taking down the steam line.
- Proper storage and use of leftover food.
- Proper use, maintenance, and cleaning of all equipment.
- Ensuring overall general kitchen cleanliness.
- Good understanding of recipes/temperature logs.
- Follow workload/production schedules.
- Good knowledge of expiration dates/food rotations.
- Prepare menu, in conjunction with medic and other staff on a weekly basis, always keeping special diets and allergies in mind.
- Shop for groceries on a weekly basis.
- Responsible to ensure that grocery costs are kept at a minimum.
- Ensure that meals and snacks are ready on time.
- Attend to the dietary needs of any campers/staff who require special diets.
- Responsible to ensure that Health Standards are being met and liaise with the local Health Inspector when required.
- Overall operation, maintenance and cleanliness of the camp kitchen on an ongoing basis.
- Good time management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, and presentation required.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive attitude towards safety is essential.
The successful candidate will have:
- 7 years professional kitchen experience.
- 3 – 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
- Red Seal certification preferred.
- Be in possession of an up-to-date Food Safe Level 1 Certificate and WHMIS Certificate.
- Line or banquet cooking experience will be considered an asset.
- Previous related experience working in remote, fly in / fly out camp site would be an asset.
