Overview

This position is responsible for the completion of structural engineering design, investigation, and management of multiple projects of varying scope and complexity. The incumbent will use their technical knowledge to evaluate existing buildings and facilities and design solutions for our clients’ complex and unique problems. Training and mentoring of junior engineers will be a primary responsibility.

Essential Job Functions

  • Complete structural reviews of existing buildings and structures.
  • Prepare written condition and evaluation reports.
  • Complete engineering design assignments and manage multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Use a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques to solve problems.
  • Office review of structural engineering shop drawings and calculations.
  • Field review of structural-related construction (e.g. reinforcing steel).
  • Application of design software for structural design in conjunction with senior engineers.
  • Recommend technological improvements to the department.
  • Assist other engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design or computation methods.
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior and student engineers or technicians.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project progress.
  • Client interfacing, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Education And Certifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Professional experience in a consulting engineering or construction engineering environment, managing structural investigation and restoration projects.
  • Experience with client relations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivating and able to multi-task while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to provide leadership to junior engineers and technicians.

The Salary Range for this position is $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

Physical Demands & Overtime

Physical Demands – Work is performed in both an office setting and at outside locations (e.g. client office, industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The Employee is frequently required to stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, as well as preparing written reports of findings. This includes possessing the mental aptitude, cognition, concentration, and state of mind necessary to perform job duties, with negligible distractions that could jeopardize employee’s work productivity, quality of work, and safety to self and others.

Overtime – There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
