We proudly serve over 40,000 students across almost 100 elementary and secondary schools in Niagara, located between Lake Erie in the South and Lake Ontario to the North.

POSITION: Elementary Occasional Teacher

LOCATION: DSBN Elementary Schools in Niagara Region

RATE OF PAY: $271.81 daily rate of pay (includes 4% vacation pay)

SCHEDULE: 10 months per year (September – June) on an as needed basis

Position Summary

The DSBN is seeking qualified, and soon-to-be qualified, Elementary Occasional Teacher candidates who provide evidence of meaningful experiences working with children and/or youth. These experiences may include paid, volunteer, and practicum experience. Occasional Teachers work in a variety of schools throughout the Niagara region gaining valuable teaching experience and supporting the needs of students across the system. Occasional Teachers are eligible to work daily assignments, apply to long term assignments or contract positions with the DSBN.

Qualifications

Good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;

Conditions Of Employment

Maintain good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;

Upon hire, provide a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within six months);

Agreement to comply with the Board’s policies, procedures and code of conduct;

Successful completion of a probationary period in accordance with the Collective Agreement;

Work a minimum of fifteen (15) teaching days in an academic school year;

Complete an annual offence declaration process.

Interviews will occur virtually via Microsoft Teams with a panel of Elementary Principals/Vice-Principals;

Traditional question and answer format interviews will occur.
