WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Switchboard Clerk processes emergency and non-emergency call centre communications such as in-coming telephone calls, on-call physician locating, monitoring of fire alarms and emergency code dispatch.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Grade 12 Diploma and 911 Emergency and Call Centre Communications Diploma or equivalent education and work experience which includes recent Switchboard experience (within the past 12 months) is required. Previous demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced Switchboard and/or Call-Centre environment is required.
- Experience working with the public would be an asset.
WHO YOU ARE
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of the Microsoft office suite and good computer skills
- Demonstrated customer focused/driven attitude and positive customer philosophy
- Accurate keyboarding skills (40 wpm)
- Able to use standard office equipment including a computer, laser printer, label printer, fax machine, multifunction photocopier, calculator, and telephone
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and follow current privacy regulations.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, with patients/families, staff and physicians and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and use good judgement when making decisions
- Demonstrated good teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively and promote a positive attitude within the team
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision and accuracy with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated patience and flexibility to support multiple client demands
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting an inclusive, non-judgmental workplace, welcoming all people of all backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task when facing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to remain calm during emergency situations and carefully follow code procedures
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate patience in stressful situations.
- Ability to reconcile and record information (including financial information) with accuracy.
