BGC Okanagan invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Manager, Child Care Stream. This is a temporary position, maternity coverage role starting February 4, 2025 until November 14, 2025.
The Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of multiple licensed childcare programs (children ages 0-12) in collaboration with other Managers. In this role, you'll be at the heart of shaping and delivering high-quality, meaningful child care experiences that support the growth and development of every child. You'll manage the day-to-day operations of our programs, ensuring they run smoothly, meet all safety standards, and align with our mission and values.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the operations of Child Care (0-12 years) programs within the Kelowna community.
- Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs.
- Ensures Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are always met and followed by all staff.
- Provides leadership in accordance with Agency Vision, Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Responsible for ensuring all programs are adequately staffed and be able to work in ratio as needed.
- Responsible for the recruitment of staff and volunteers, including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, orientation and training.
- Provides support in developing budgets for assigned programs. Reviews financial statements and wage variance reports and adjusts as needed.
- Works with supervisors to ensure that programs are responsive to individual needs of members, and behavior plans are developed as appropriate.
- Has access to confidential personnel files, which includes disciplinary proceedings, performance evaluations, criminal record checks, and medical records.
- Provides support to supervisors within multiple Child Care programs with day-to-day scheduling, direction and performance feedback of program staff and volunteers.
- Involved in writing grants and funding proposals to support program delivery.
- Completes operational reporting to measure progress in areas of responsibility.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Educator with current License to Practice and three (3) years recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory and administrative experience is preferred
- Knowledge of Licensed Child Care programs
- Excellent oral, written, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills
- Strong time management skills
- Class 5 Driver’s License
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $61,397.00 per year
