Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this (hybrid) position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for leading the mechanical and piping discipline teams on projects for our BioProducts business. Our growing BioProducts business serves the pulp & paper, wood products, bioenergy, biochemicals and other related sectors, offering project opportunities across Canada and internationally. Salary range - $130,000 - $190,000

Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical teams on small to large, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept through to final implementation.
- Work in accordance with Wood standards to ensure all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide engineering and technical support for the layout, design, and evaluation of mechanical equipment and piping systems for pulp and paper plants, biomass facilities, and related infrastructure.
- Manage projects, including estimating engineering effort, budget and scope control, and scheduling.
- Prepare and present technical reports and documentation.
- Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for pumps, piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other process and industrial equipment.
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills and handle multiple tasks both independently and as part of a team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process, structural, electrical, and project management.
- Establish strong working relationships and communication with project management, area leads, department managers, clients, and other team members to ensure design compatibility.
- Supervise and mentor engineers and designers on the project team.
- Remain current with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered in British Columbia or another Canadian province; US PE is an asset.
- Minimum 10 years of heavy industrial experience, including at least 5 years in pulp and paper engineering projects as a client, supplier, or consultant.
- Proficiency with mainstream engineering software is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in written and oral English.French and/or Spanish language skills are an asset.
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment with minimal supervision, including on client sites.
