Interior Health is hiring a term-specific part-time Operations Improvement Lead, Point of Care Testing (POCT) who is passionate about making a difference in healthcare. The end date of this position is approximately August 31, 2025.

Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How Will You Create An Impact

The Operations Improvement Lead, Point of Care Testing (Lead, POCT) is responsible for the retrieval, analysis, and presentation of strategic utilization information that is required to support operational and administrative decision making. The Lead, POCT is responsible for guiding and coordinating activities of the department in accordance with professional standards and supporting the goals and strategic direction of IH POCT. Reporting to the Manager, IH POCT, the position acts as a resource to the POCT department to provide advanced support, guidance, and expertise on POCT equipment and related processes to facilitate improved department methods and functions. The Lead, POCT works with partners at all levels of POCT and Laboratory departments to achieve targeted outcomes, and maintains current knowledge of new developments, trends, and research in the POCT department processes.

In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to your manager or supervisor immediately.

What Will You Work On

  • Ensures the implementation of new/revised policies and procedures by collaborating with medical leads and clinical areas. Provides technical guidance/advice and facilitates solutions for the POCT programs to ensure consistency with the standards of professional practice. Champions improvement measures, communicates, and demonstrates best practices to ensure that accreditation, quality control and safety standards are maintained.
  • Develops follow-up processes with staff and others. Resolves day-to-day problems as required, evaluates operating procedures, and advises management as necessary. Drafts correspondence/ reports as requested. Prepares spreadsheets, graphs, flow charts, and statistics as required.
  • Works collaboratively with Managers, staff, and Clinical leads.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates POCT department specific goals and objectives, standards and policies, ensuring consistency with the established standards and objectives of the services within Interior Health.
  • Promotes effectiveness, efficiency, accountability, and sustainability of Interior Health services in order to comply with Diagnostic Accreditation Program standards, National Accreditation Canada standards, and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to share POCT knowledge to incorporate current better practices in health service delivery.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the local quality improvement and risk management initiatives in accordance with Interior Health standards and processes.
  • Analyzes current trends and data in POCT related to the provision of accessible, comprehensive, efficient, and effective service/care.
  • Participates, as part of the local management teams, in coordinating the utilization of shared resources including services, equipment, and space with other departments and/or sites.
  • Prepares formal reports including project executive summary, project charters, assessment of need, summary of program and services, cost estimates, status reports, cost control reports, and other reports as appropriate related to region wide POCT operational initiatives.
  • Supports project implementation and work plan for POCT program-wide initiatives including identification of key partners, critical timeframes, and processes required to ensure effective identification of capital and program requirements.
  • Represents Clinical Operations and Clinical Services for POCT by participating in committees/teams as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
