LOCATION: 611 Powell Street, Downtown Eastside (DTES), Vancouver.

ORGANIZATION:
The Supervised Consumption Site (SCS) is a unique harm reduction program embedded in the BC-CfE’s Hope to Health Complex/Research and Innovation Centre (R&I) serving Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES).
Hope to Health is an innovative health clinic comprised of a multidisciplinary clinical team focused in providing primary and specialty care for patients/clients in the DTES community. The centre is staffed by an interdisciplinary team (e.g.; physicians, nurses, counsellors, peer navigators) and provides “wrap-around” healthcare to clients ensuring they receive the full continuum of care under one roof. The Hope to Health Complex/R&I Center is part of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE).
The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics, and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.

JOB: Reporting to the Leader or designate, the Clinic Aide is responsible for performing a variety of duties including escorting clients to and from designated clinic areas, assisting staff with the clients, maintaining supplies and cleaning equipment and storage areas, picking up and delivering equipment, supplies, specimens, blood products, and other items as assigned.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Escorting clients to and from required areas and assisting nursing and technical staff as required.
  • Maintaining supplies for designated areas, and cleaning and stocking equipment, cupboards, and storage areas as required.
  • Picking up and delivering equipment, supplies, and other items as assigned.
  • Performing related clerical duties such as photocopying.
  • Performing other duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 10 plus one year’s recent, related experience in a health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and recent, related experience.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
