CBoC undertakes research to address the most pressing issues in Innovation and Technology, Human Capital, Sustainability, Immigration, Indigenous and Northern Communities, Education and Skills, and Health. Our social science research provides actionable pathways to solutions. Simply put, we deliver insights that help Canada’s leaders cut through the noise and make informed decisions.

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to join the Immigration team.

Our Ideal Candidate is… is a skilled researcher with a demonstrated interest in public policy, economics and supporting improvements to Canada’s immigration system. They will bring exceptional writing and quantitative analysis skills, intellectual curiosity and passion and commitment to a culture that values high quality, creativity and thought leadership. The successful candidate will be part of a professional research and convening team and will undertake integrated, non-partisan, applied research for public policy and private sector decision-makers.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role. This includes internet service and a reliable connection.

About The Role

  • Provide leadership in advancing and growing immigration related research and programs
  • Produce high quality reports, blog posts, and articles on immigration
  • Lead research projects utilizing knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Build relationships with Members of the National Immigration Centre and Centre for Business Insights on Immigration and contribute to business development initiatives
  • Engage externally on immigration research, including in the media, on podcasts and in external presentations, conferences and webinars.
  • Identify growth and retention strategies for the National Immigration Centre and Centre for Business Insights on Immigration
  • Support content development, agenda design, stakeholder relations, and sponsorship outreach for Immigration related conferences and meetings
  • Complete applications for research and sponsorship funding
  • Identify topics and high-quality speakers/presenters for webinars related to immigration and support their development and delivery
  • Contribute to the immigration research team’s social media channels
  • Work closely with team members to conceptualize new research opportunities and projects
  • Actively contribute and participate in a dynamic and highly productive team environment

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in the social sciences such as public policy, economics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian immigration policies
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in a professional applied research organization with:
    • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to write clearly, concisely, and quickly
    • Strong understanding of economic principles, and quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. A specialization in quantitative analysis is desirable
    • Demonstrated ability for leading complex research projects from conceptualization to dissemination of results
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting business development activities including completing proposals for research funding and securing sponsorship
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of meeting design, facilitation, adult learning principles and experience with a variety of meeting formats
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting work externally, including in the media, podcasts, conferences, panels or webinars
  • Capability for setting priorities, working under pressure, and delivering high quality products
  • Demonstrated success in handling multiple priorities, responsibilities and deliverables
  • Strong sense of teamwork, professionalism and customer focus
  • Ability to travel within Canada when it is safe to do so
  • Bilingualism is a definite asset

The salary for this position ranges from $80,793 to $109,308 annually for candidates from any Canadian province or territory. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, specific skillsets, as well as market and business considerations.
