Responsibilities

  • Edit and format documents, making them presentable for internal and external clients
  • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Have autonomy and the opportunity to interact and work with a community of technical experts from other Montrose regions
  • Partner with extensive, long-standing clients such as municipal governments, conservation authorities, academia, and private industry

As a Project Assistant you will join our Ontario offices (hybrid-remote opportunities available) as part of our Project Services team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

  • Proofread, copy edit, format, compile, and deliver technical documents including proposals, work plans, letter reports, formal reports, and corporate documents
  • Support multiple team members and projects with document processing needs
  • Manage and meet deadlines of a high-volume workload
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files
  • Maintain active communication with authors, project managers, and technical personnel
  • Update Montrose and client project systems and databases (e.g., Workload Management System)
  • Coordinate project data deliverables (including mapping, data, and reporting requests)
  • Build relationships with the team
  • Prepare custom templates and style sheets to meet clients’ and Montrose standards
  • Print and bind documents, and prepare CDs, USBs flash drives, or upload documents to extranet sites or client systems
  • Actively participate in maintaining Montrose's strong safety culture, prioritizing health & safety
  • Flexible availability for extra hours/overtime to support team goals and ensure project success

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience editing documents such as formal reports, letter reports, proposals, and work plans
  • Degree, Certificate, or Diploma in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills, including proofreading and copy editing (grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition)
  • Possess excellent organizational, file, and time management skills to effectively meet multiple deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail following company standards and pride in producing quality work
  • Possess advanced-level skills in Microsoft Word and intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment or processing environmental data would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in an office environment and interest in hybrid-remote opportunities
  • Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm to support others and adapt to the evolving needs of a dynamic environment
