Job Summary

The Key Accounts Coordinator is a commercial customer facing role that requires collaboration with both internal and external resources to deliver on customer expectations in addition to developing and maintaining customer relationships. The Coordinator works with business owners, building owners and operators, and technical staff (engineers, architects, contractors and technical support staff) and is the primary point of contact for products and services offered by Hydro Ottawa. They are responsible for leading engagement of assigned key account customers and supporting them with all electricity and account needs, pursuing opportunities to partner on innovative energy projects, and working with internal cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues.

Major Responsibilities

  • Segment customers and refine designation based on opportunity analysis.
  • Align account activities to maximize productivity and customer insight.
  • Develop and implement a yearly account plan, including main initiatives, reports, and metrics on key performance indicators, covering customer priorities for assigned accounts.
  • Contribute to developing business cases, work plans, processes, and tools to support the overall account strategy.
  • Take a leadership role in the expansion of business opportunities and empower a diverse group of team members focused on customer requirements.
  • Interact with customers to ascertain needs and future energy plans, capturing and sharing intelligence to assist with developing strategies.
  • Undertake a consultative sales approach and leverage technical abilities based on market opportunities.
  • Assist and lead business development activities, including presentations and training seminars, and contribute to proposal development.
  • Help customers with complex issues like bill analysis and understanding electricity usage and programs.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and other stakeholders to help remove barriers and enable delivery of customer projects.
  • Populate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system with customer information and leverage the tool to build new business.
  • Act as a primary contact for designated accounts on all related issues for the company.
  • Act as a corporate spokesperson for Hydro Ottawa to designated commercial customers.
  • Ensure that customer account information is available to executive staff to coordinate opportunities for meetings.
  • Liaise with and support other divisions to improve customer service in alignment with the customer experience strategy.
  • Assist with development and implementation of marketing to drive business development and create potential partnerships with identified accounts.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other internal groups regarding customer engagement and events.
  • Ensure all corporate health and safety policies are followed.
  • Identify opportunities by researching industry sources, attending events, and tracking markets and competitors.
  • Participate in working groups and committees, collaborating with other industry partners on relevant projects.
  • Develop successful capture strategies for new initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field such as business, engineering, or technology.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in consulting, technical sales, account management, or project management.
  • Strong channel management skills, ability to analyze and manage program metrics.
  • Program development, program management, and sales experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • English essential; Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry and understanding of kW, kWh, and billing demand in a commercial environment considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the energy transition and electrification considered an asset.
  • Utility or energy services experience considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid class G driver’s license.
  • Government of Canada security clearance.

This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model and may use artificial intelligence during the recruitment process.
