Role overview :

The Quality Assurance Technician is a technical leader within our bakery teams and is responsible for supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in all tasks related to the quality assurance system. This position is critical to maintaining our culture of food safety as well as promoting commitment to the quality of our products.

In order to perform well in this role, it is important to have a certain flexibility in terms of working hours, to enjoy working in a stimulating environment and to know how to prioritize product quality at all times.

THINGS TO KNOW:

The shift is to be determined (day or night). There is also a night premium that applies. This may require additional hours or hours outside of regular time slots to carry out tests or trials in the bakery. You may find yourself sampling various delicious breads and products!

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure compliance with controls associated with quality assurance systems and programs;
  • Carry out training related to food safety at the bakery level;
  • Update product specifications and related documentation;
  • Be responsible for monitoring related to the quality and verification of production documents;
  • Perform sampling for analytical, sensory and/or microbiological tests;
  • Support product testing during new product or production launches;
  • Be accountable for preparing for and participating in all third party (GFSI-BRC), CFIA or FDA audits
  • Carry out GMP inspections and internal audits;
  • Promote and participate in establishing a culture of food safety and quality within the bakery;
  • Work in partnership with the operations, maintenance and sanitation team to deliver organizational objectives;
  • Other related tasks as requested


Requirements and profile :

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, food engineering or other related discipline
  • Enthusiasm for quality and food safety
  • Flexibility in terms of hours if necessary (other shifts occasionally)
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the field of food safety, quality assurance or sanitation in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of HACCP/FSMA/SFCA, food industry, good manufacturing practices, GFSI standards (BRC v.8), regulatory requirements and food microbiology Good abilities
  • collaborations as well as contributing within a team.
  • Functional skills in the MS Office suite and more particularly with Excel
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and problem-solving skills, collection of factual information in order to position oneself and make recommendations
  • Good communication skills in French, written and verbal (and English would be an asset)
