About the Role:
This is a dynamic, high-profile role responsible for overseeing marketing and community engagement activities across Global News stations in the western region, which spans three of our network’s key hubs. This area includes Global BC, Global Edmonton, Global Calgary, Global Winnipeg, Global Regina, Global Saskatoon, Global Okanagan, and Global Lethbridge.
As the Marketing and Community Manager, you will be the primary contact for community sponsorship requests, skillfully executing strategic promotions, and nurturing brand partnerships that elevate Global News' presence in these communities. Reporting to the Global News Senior Brand Manager, you will also lead marketing initiatives across all platforms in your respective markets, ensuring alignment with the overall brand vision and strategic goals. This is a role for a proactive leader passionate about making a tangible impact across our western regional stations.

The following is an outline of some, but not all, of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position:
- Build community relationships and brand partnerships executing strategic promotions and managing marketing-owned assets in local markets on all platforms including community l-frames, community calendars, on-air promos, OTT, and the community hubs on Globalnews.ca.
- Support brand marketing campaigns in the local markets with promotional plans, writing creative briefs, graphics requests, and fulfilling external media requirements (for example – print and digital ads, LED rings, video pre-roll, etc).
- Managing external media asset deliverables (LED rings, jumbotron videos, video screens, print ads, contesting) in the local markets for brand partnerships. Significantly the major sports team (NHL and CFL) partnerships in BC, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg.
- Develop and execute community relations strategies to maintain the Global News profile as a leader in the community.
- This position is the local station contact for community sponsorship requests in the western region.
- Work collaboratively with the Revenue team to develop strategic revenue partnership opportunities in conjunction with key advertisers, clients, and community partners.
- Negotiate, write presentations and manage strategic local community partnerships, sponsorships and promotions.
- Work closely with the local news teams, sales and creative services, Video Content Producers, and graphics teams to assign tasks and execute the partnership commitments – for example, local emcee requests, contesting, on-air promos, community calendar, web pages and event listings, print ads, and logo approvals.
- Contribute content for corporate community impact communications, diversity and quarterly charity reports as required.
- Assist local sales and integration teams as required to ensure the Global News brand is represented appropriately.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires passion, enthusiasm, strategic thinking, an understanding of marketing, community relations, the creative production process and a proven track record in the promotional planning (on all platforms – TV, online, social, and Radio). The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Marketing/Communications or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a marketing/community position(s) fostering community relationships, preferably within a broadcast/news environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management and managing teams.
- Significant promotional campaign development experience includes writing creative briefs, assessing creative, leveraging publicity, and working with media planning teams.
- Understanding of the media industry specifically local news, the marketing and creative process, promotional planning, production techniques and timelines.
