Primary Duties
- Transport customers and courteously respond to their needs.
- Safely operate transit vehicles in a variety of conditions and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Interpret and apply information from city route maps and schedules and locate all major city locations.
- Inform customers of appropriate fares and issue transfers.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants must have at least 1 year experience working with customers.
- Applicants must have a valid full Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with 3 or less demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Applicants must provide an original driver's abstract no older than 60 days at the time of interview from all jurisdictions in which you have been a licensed driver in the last 2 years.
- Applicants must be able to acquire Calgary Transit Operator's certification.
- Applicants must be able to obtain an Alberta Class 2 Operator's License.
- Applicants must be able to obtain a valid air brake 'Q' endorsement (prior to training).
- Success in this position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
- Applicants must value diversity, possess a high stress tolerance, sound judgment, and problem solving skills.
Pre-employment Requirements
- All applicants who pass screening will be required to view a mandatory online Day in the Life Video.
- A police information check and vulnerable sector search will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must pass a Class 2 medical test.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications at the time of interview.
- Applicants may be contacted, interviewed, and hired throughout the duration of this competition.
Hours Guarantee
Community Shuttle Operators are required to work Saturday and Sunday and are guaranteed 15 hours per week. Individuals may also work more hours based on their availability and operational needs. Community Shuttle Operators may be eligible for the appropriate benefits after working an average of 20 hours per week for an entire assessment period.
Pre-employment Drug Test
An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
