The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to join our dynamic Information Management Technology team, focused on advancing our Cloud Data Estate (CDE) initiative. AER is in the process of establishing the CDE to optimize data assets for storage, performance, and availability within the Microsoft Azure Cloud environment, ensuring that our data management, quality, and usability requirements are effectively met. As a Student, Data Analyst, you will gain hands-on experience in enterprise data architecture, engineering, and management, while actively participating in data modernization and transformation activities. You will have the opportunity to engage in data analysis, testing, and work with cutting-edge tools and technologies in the Microsoft Azure Cloud, such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Collaborate directly with domain leads and team members in data management, architecture, and engineering practices.
- Work closely with business, infrastructure, and solution development teams.
- Support tasks to identify and leverage opportunities for consolidating data assets.
- Transform and model target-state data repositories to align with business needs for analysis, reporting, and dissemination.
- Prepare documentation for data flows, data lineage, and data modeling as required.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Currently enrolled in your Bachelor's program in Computer Science or a related field.
- Completion of coursework in Data Analysis, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics is preferred.
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
Additional Information:
- Proof of enrollment in a registered post-secondary institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.
