Regulatory Analyst - Summer Student

The Opportunity
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to assist our high-performing Regulatory Efficiency team. As a Student, Regulatory Analyst, you will work on initiatives to research and assess targeted regulatory practices in key subject and key areas and in other jurisdictions that support our mandate. You may also contribute to key regulatory change project initiatives that are underway to shape and update our regulatory instruments (e.g., directives, manuals), or to provide targeted analysis and support in a fixed timeline. Our successful candidate will have solid organization and communication skills, you will help shape how innovative regulatory approaches can be used within the AER’s regulatory environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Conduct research and analysis on regulatory questions as assigned.
- Write concise documents summarizing the analysis undertaken.
- Participate in weekly team meetings, and project team discussions on assigned projects.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Currently enrolled in your third or fourth year of a Bachelor's program in Policy Studies, Economics, Law, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and strong communication (verbal and writing) skills.
Additional Information:
- Proof of enrollment in a registered post-secondary institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.
