The Opportunity
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to assist our high-performing Information Management & Technology team. The AER is modernizing its regulatory systems through the development of OneStop, an online platform designed to streamline the application process, while at the same time, supporting better-informed decision making. As a Student, IT Project Coordinator, you will have the chance to demonstrate your skills and proactive approach by supporting managers and delivery teams in their daily tasks. You will also gain valuable experience working with Agile development teams in a Scrum environment. Our digital transformation delivery team consists of problem solvers and self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. What your day-to-day will look like:
- QA testing - Develop and perform manual test cases. Identify, document, track bugs, and performance issues. Collaborate with the development team to review test outcomes and resolve issues.
- Reporting - Assist in gathering, analyzing, and preparing reports on IT metrics, trends, and performance to identify areas for process improvement. Create analytics reports using Power BI or Tableau.
- Project Support & Continuous Improvement - Provide support with general administrative tasks and procedures. Participate in daily scrums, sprint planning, retrospectives, documenting lessons learned, and suggesting continuous improvement opportunities.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SharePoint, SQL, Tableau, and/or Power BI is preferred. Experience with Azure DevOps is an asset.
- Familiarity with software testing and Agile or Scrum methodologies is preferred.
- Possess a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to think critically and provide effective solutions to challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into business-friendly language and interact professionally technically and non-technically.
- Exceptional organizational skills, able to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

- Proof of enrollment in a registered institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.
