Dow is seeking a Senior Process Control Technician to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta, Canada).
In this role, you will support activities aligned with process automation systems. You will provide preventative maintenance and 24/7 troubleshooting support for installed base systems. You will play a key role in minimizing plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. Key drivers for success are overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software.

About You And This Role
Dow is seeking a Senior Process Control Technician to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta, Canada).
In this role, you will support activities aligned with process automation systems. You will provide preventative maintenance and 24/7 troubleshooting support for installed base systems. You will play a key role in minimizing plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. Key drivers for success are overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software.
Responsibilities
- Provides care and troubleshooting of the process automation systems, and their associated networks and interfaces.
- Provides corrective support in response to a system error condition or failure as the first point of escalation from the plant.
- Performs predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems.
- Participates in software and hardware upgrades.
- Understands and follows all identified Dow Process Automation work processes, such as Problem Resolution and Request Management, S&OP Case entry, Engineering and Maintenance Asset database updates.
- Completes small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development.
- Tracks and redeploys assets.
- Provides training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources.
- Interfaces with others in the Plant who support process control on troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Monitors system diagnostics aligned with plant process control staff.
- Participates in risk assessment when activities to the system are required.
- Escalates issues to additional support resources and follow-ups, as necessary.
- Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (i.e. manufacturing, maintenance, plant support, etc.)
- A minimum of 5 years experience in supporting commercial Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.
- A Short-Cycle Tertiary Degree (i.e. 2 year Associate's Degree) or higher in Electronics, Instrumentation, IT, Networking or related field.
- Technical troubleshooting & problem solving.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Teamwork - Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
