As a Communication Specialist you will manage and enhance internal and external communications. This role is responsible for developing proactive communication plans that align with organizational goals. Plans are expected to be complex in nature and consider both internal and external strategies. This role will be expected to manage multiple communication projects simultaneously from planning to creation and execution.
- Work as part of a team to develop and execute insights-driven, creative and fresh strategies that drive awareness of and differentiate SCU brand and its products and services.
- Articulate ideas effectively and adjust language to suit diverse audiences, adapting tone and messaging as required.
- Adapt and flex to stay current with emerging communication trends, tools and technology.
- Conduct research to understand audience, trends, and competitor strategies.
- Analyze communication outcomes to assess effectiveness and improve future initiatives.
- Partner with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, including SCU’s executive leadership team, senior management and project leaders, to support the conception, planning, creation, implementation and dissemination of communication plans.
- Protect the integrity of the SCU brand by maintaining a consistent brand voice, doing so with a strong understanding of SCU’s purpose, vision and values.
- Collect and synthesize data around specific media strategies, distilling data into simple KPIs and data visualizations or dashboards.
- Ability to use strong written and verbal communication skills, strategic thinking and audience analysis to aide in the development of strategic plans, messaging, media materials and digital/social content, specifically weaving data into recommendations and evaluation of the work.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and manage sensitive issues.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and vendor partners, working collaboratively to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Post secondary degree in Business Administration, Communications or Marketing plus a minimum of five years of progressive communications experience including developing and implementing communication plans and materials, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Communications experience with a focus on financial services would be considered an asset.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong audience analysis, crisis communication, branding and messaging, problem solving skills.
- Software Proficiency (ex. MS Office Professional).
- Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical talent, and attention to detail.
