Overview

The Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in the Engineering team, ensuring the reliable functioning of equipment and systems. They collaborate with various teams, analyze data to identify opportunities, and develop processes to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime, aimed at optimizing overall equipment effectiveness and operational efficiency. The primary function of this position is equipment life cycle management, with a significant focus on the manufacturing floor. The expected goal is to fully understand and manage the operational life cycle of each piece of process equipment.

Salary Range $75,000 - $100,000

Responsibilities

Equipment Life Cycle

  • Gather Data Collect information on equipment performance and maintenance history.
  • Conduct Reliability Analysis Identify potential failures and their effects.
  • Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis Estimate total ownership costs over time.
  • Define Component End-of-Life Determine when major components should be replaced.
  • Review and Update Regularly update assessments based on new data and changes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track equipment reliability and identify trends or patterns.


Optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program

  • Review PM Database Verify validity of PM’s and asset lists.
  • Standardize PM Procedures Develop standardized procedures to ensure consistency across common equipment throughout the organization.
  • Optimize PM Frequencies Review and adjust PM frequencies based on equipment data and manufacturer recommendations. (Reduce, Differ, Remove)
  • Introduce Predictive Maintenance Utilizing component end-of-life analysis, develop and implement predictive maintenance activities.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to determine the underlying causes of equipment failures and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.


Capital Projects

  • Support both maintenance and operations teams during the development of potential capital projects-.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to cross-functional teams for the purpose of optimizing equipment design, installation, and operation.
  • Plan and manage all engineering related capital projects


Line Process Optimization

  • Collaborate with CI to gather and analyse current operational data related to equipment.
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop potential solutions.
  • Engage with the on-site plant staff to create and implement optimization project plans.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Millwright/Electrical trade certification is a strong asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a reliability-engineering role, preferably in a food-manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
