Ovintiv’s Canadian Operating Area (COA) has an opportunity for a Facility Integrity Technologist to join the Mechanical Integrity team. Based in Grande Prairie (AB), or Dawson Creek (BC), the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to be responsible for the management and execution of Ovintiv’s pressure equipment integrity programs in the Grande Prairie, Gold Creek and Dawson Creek districts.

Reporting to the Lead of Pressure Equipment Integrity, this unique and challenging opportunity provides daily exposure to many aspects of the COA operations through interactions with the integrity team, engineering, operations, construction and external service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Ovintiv’s Safety Culture and Foundational values of One, Agile, Innovative and Driven.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Manage pressure equipment integrity programs in accordance with provincial regulations and Ovintiv requirements.
  • Coordinate inspection vendors for non-destructive examination and corrosion surveys.
  • Participate in pressure equipment risk-based inspection assessments.
  • Coordinate or conduct equipment inspections and write or review reports.
  • Develop repair recommendations and procedures based on inspection findings.
  • Ensure that code and regulation requirements are utilized in the inspection and repair of pressure equipment.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education (materials, inspection or welding focused).
  • Five or more years of relevant experience.
  • API 510 or National Board certification.
  • ABSA PESL, API 570 and API 653 certifications.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Practical knowledge of pressure equipment operation and failure mechanisms.
  • Material selection and application knowledge.
  • Maxi-Trak (integrity database) experience.
  • Experience with ASME, API and CSA codes or standards and their application.
  • Familiarity with provincial legislation for pressure equipment and pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline operation and inspection processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
