What You’ll Do:
Reporting to the Director of Claim Services, you’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating the early intervention services provided by the Early Intervention Team. This includes supervising the performance and development of the team and ensuring productivity and quality standards are met. They also assess workflow and operating procedures to devise the most effective methods of accomplishing work to meet established targets and member/client requirements. Finally, The Manager, Early Intervention program GL&DC - also ensures the provision of cost-effective services to plan members and actively engages the team in the disability management process.

Job Description
What You’ll Do:
Reporting to the Director of Claim Services, you’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating the early intervention services provided by the Early Intervention Team. This includes supervising the performance and development of the team and ensuring productivity and quality standards are met. They also assess workflow and operating procedures to devise the most effective methods of accomplishing work to meet established targets and member/client requirements. Finally, The Manager, Early Intervention program GL&DC - also ensures the provision of cost-effective services to plan members and actively engages the team in the disability management process.
The Core Parts Of Your Role Will Be To
- Applies quality principles and practices to establish a strategic approach and to improve the EI team’s operations and productivity. This includes managing processes to support the organization’s strategic direction and communicating, facilitating and supporting necessary changes for continuous improvement.
- Ensures medical and rehabilitation vendor resources are used appropriately while monitoring use and costs.
- Establishes strategic initiatives and accomplishes financial objectives. This includes gathering pertinent business, financial, service and operations information and forecasting requirements for the annual budget.
- Provides information to the Director of Claim Services and Vice President of GL&DC, including annual objectives, business opportunities, results, trends and competitive information.
- Maintains the EI team’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting and training individuals. Communicates strategies and objectives to team members, and provides employees with the necessary resources to perform individual job responsibilities efficiently.
- Leads the performance management process by communicating job expectations, and tracking progress and effectiveness of individual activities. This includes determining EI team and individual goals; offering job coaching, training, motivation and support to help employees meet objectives and quality requirements; reviewing progress; and offering feedback, as required.
- Establishes and implements quality and reliability standards and controls. Collaborates with the quality and training team to ensure compliance with departmental expectations and standards. This includes analyzing and resolving quality and service problems, identifying trends, and recommending improvements.
- Communicates with members, attorneys, physicians, insurers and senior OTIP personnel regarding complex or contentious claims.
- Prepares and delivers presentations pertaining to the early intervention program and services.
- Collects, analyzes and summarizes information for GL&DC management and for reporting purposes. Prepares and presents reports pertaining to the cost effectiveness of early intervention for OTIP Group of Companies Long Term Disability plans.
- Fosters an effective working relationship with Client relations Representatives. Acts as an official early intervention program spokesperson with school board and union representatives, as required.

Let’s Talk About You:
This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:
- A university degree in a related subject or an equivalent accreditation. Insurance related courses/designations in HIAA, ICA, FLMI, CEBS and CCRC are considered an asset.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in disability/claims/rehabilitation management, including a minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory role or related senior role.
- General knowledge of mental health disorder and problems, common physical illnesses and disabilities, personality, functional and vocational assessment tools, cognitive behavioural approaches and the rehabilitation process.
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, practices and contracts; underwriting agreements; and long term disability products and claims services.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal laws pertaining to rehabilitation and employment and union/labour laws.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior time-management, project-management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
