Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is seeking a Geotechnical Student for an internship starting Summer 2025. Reporting to Geotechnical you will support offices globally working from our Niagara Falls office location.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work closely with our engineers, geoscientists, and designers as a technical resource on challenging projects.
  • Apply analytical, conceptual, research, and planning skills to support geotechnical investigations, geological characterization, and geotechnical design and analysis as well as construction.
  • Be exposed to modern design tools, including 3D modeling and geotechnical analysis software.
  • Work closely with experienced professional engineers and geoscientists who will provide guidance and mentoring.
  • Gain experience in a variety of technical areas.

  • Pursuing a degree in Geological engineering or Earth Sciences program.

  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals.
  • Excel academically while being involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities.
  • Ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Technical proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Adapts and embraces change.
