POSITION SUMMARY:

The PRIDE Seeds Soybean and Production Coordinator works closely with field staff, seed growers and processors to administer seed contracts and field activity. Records all detailed information regarding seed corn and soybean contracts to satisfy both internal and external requirements. Works as part of the Inventory and Quality Assistant team whose combined duties are to ensure the accuracy of inventory and quality of seed sold meets rigorous standards. Supports seed grower allocations, mapping, invoices and product returns, and PRIDE Seeds plot activities.

Position reports to PRIDE Seeds Field Production Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate effectively and work closely with local growers and producers.
  • Determine seedstock amounts required for each variety.
  • Assist the Field Production Manager with soybean seed allocations for processors.
  • Mapping seed corn and seed soybean grower fields, as required.
  • Match placement of varieties in growing areas to achieve the required acreage.
  • Create all grower and producer contracts.
  • Monitor seed soybean field conditions.
  • Collect yield estimates throughout the growing season.
  • Create Seed soybean pick sheets, invoices and product returns for processors and local growers.
  • Coordinate soybean and corn seed deliveries and pickups.
  • Assist with the placement and planting of PRIDE’s soybean and IMOP (Inbred Morphology Observation) plots at Pain Court site.
  • Assist growers and processors with CSGA memberships and applications.
  • For seed corn production tracks the flow of seed stock to growers and seed produced by the growers using delivery receipts, weigh tickets, seed production contracts and other internal reporting forms.
  • Works with Field Technicians and Inspectors to create documents needed for CFIA and CSGA, for seed corn purposes and prepare field map books for contractors and gather time sheets for casual labour.
  • Coordinate placement or required production field signs.
  • Stake out select plots for local growers when necessary.
  • Administer soybean sample pail program with processors and local growers.
  • Weigh in and out trucks
  • Input weigh ticket data into organization databases.
  • Work with accounts payable department to administer grower payments.
  • Creates spreadsheets to track pricing, grower contracts, production plans and field data.
  • Assist in hedge strategy.
  • Projects a positive image of PRIDE Seeds and AgReliant Genetics Inc.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • University Degree required.
  • Experience working in the seed industry.

KNOWLEDE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must have ability to enter data accurately and quickly with strong attention to detail.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Tableau.
  • Agronomy knowledge an asset.
  • Must have strong time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw calculated conclusions for review.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, customer service, and professionalism.
  • Great communication and organizational skills.
  • Forklift License required or ability to achieve.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work required hours, including occasional overtime as required.
  • Overnight road trips to processor locations required.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in varying climates and conditions.

Notation:

  • Role is a salaried position: 40 hours per week, with occasional Saturdays and overtime, paid as an annual salary.
  • “Regular” schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with one 30-minute unpaid break daily.
