Your Role:
As the Service Manager at Saab Canada, Inc., you will play a critical role in overseeing the performance and technical excellence of the service department while working collaboratively as part of the Saab Canada team. Your responsibilities will encompass leading a team of Field Service Representatives (FSRs), managing radar/antenna installations, and coordinating contract deliverables such as Set to Work (STW), Harbour Acceptance (HAT), and Sea Acceptance (SAT). Acting as an onsite subject matter expert for technical investigation and repair, you will liaise with the Department of Defense Fleet Maintenance Facilities, provide technical advice, and draft comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders. In this multifaceted role, you will ensure seamless knowledge transfer between operations and engineering, uphold Saab’s high standards, and contribute directly to its strategic objectives.

Your Role:

As the Service Manager, you will also:
- Be responsible for overall performance of the technical service department.
- Be responsible for, supervision performance, safety and the assignment of tasks to technical staff.
- Be responsible for the safety of the technical service department by promoting and maintaining safe practices, ensuring compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with team members in Canada and internationally, leveraging expertise to drive successful project outcomes.
- Monitor and maintain outstanding service to clients from the service department by setting standards, providing high quality training to FSRs and addressing client needs with professionalism and efficiency.
- Onsite Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical investigation and repair.
- Onsite SME for phase 2 and 3 contract deliverables (STW, HAT and SAT).
- Liaise with the Department of Defense Fleet Maintenance Facilities.
- Manage and fulfil customer system pre-requisite commitments prior to contract start.
- Draft and submit comprehensive reports to the Project Management Office and the customer.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to the Project Management Office.
- Proof read technical documentation before release to the customer.
- Draft technical documentation and reports to the customer.
- Respond to technical questions and provide recommendations / advice posed by the customer.
- Synchronize with other Saab stakeholders in relevant cases.
- Work in alignment with Saab’s policies and directives.
- Other tasks within the Country Unit, relevant to the role as a Service Manager, and agreed upon between the Director of Operations, Halifax,

Your skills and experience:
Required Education and Experience:
- Technical Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of direct work experience in naval radar technology or similar experience in the military or equivalent civilian naval environment required.
- 1+ years of leadership experience in managing direct reports preferred.
- Experience in having served the Canadian Armed Forces is an asset
- Experience in defense contracts and familiarization with military specification requirements preferred.
- Experience in performing tuning and troubleshooting on complex Radio Frequency (RF) assemblies required.
- Experience working with international teams is considered an asset.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian government security clearances and Canadian controlled goods assessment.
- Strong technical knowledge in reading and interpreting technical publications, schematics and blue prints on an operations and maintenance level.
- Good understanding of complex electronic systems, high voltage technical environment and RF safety guides.
- Dedication to Health and Safety standards, understanding of first aid, handling of dangerous goods and firefighting guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, people management, good judgment, diplomacy, communication and time management skills.
- Developed social skills and a positive attitude with an ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds.
- Proactive self-starter; self-motivated individual with a positive and ambitious attitude.
- Possess an ability to adapt to different and changing situations.
- Knowledge of export licenses, controlled goods,etc.
- Well-developed written skills in English are required.
- 1+ additional language skills considered an asset.
