Your Tasks

  • Ensure that manufactured parts meet and/or exceed customer requirements.
  • Set up workstations for Production by performing required duties on machinery, tools, and materials. May include set-ups for large presses, robotic cells, and other computer-aided set-ups.
  • Knowledgeable of all equipment in the department.
  • Make adjustments in welding program when required and participate in improving efficiency and cycle times.
  • Set up robotic welding stations by operating/retrieving various computer programs stored in robotic welding equipment.
  • Adjust equipment and change welding fixtures as necessary to ensure good quality welding.
  • Conduct quality testing and checking as per Quality instructions.
  • Detect non-conforming products and act on same.
  • Operate robotic welding equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Facilitate training sessions in welding, robotics, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to internal employees on an as-needed basis.
  • Train maintenance employees on how to maintain equipment and follow procedures when troubleshooting for equipment related to the Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Work closely with Quality department to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Participate in the use of S.P.C.
  • Document current projects e.g. cost, quotes, pay back, timelines, goals etc., and provide information to management.
  • Update and/or create procedures that are used as reference.
  • Report any abnormalities of parts or machine to the Supervisor immediately – suggest corrective action where applicable.
  • Help General Operators to inspect for visual quality of weld.
  • Train others within the department on well cell O.P.S.
  • Help set up Preventative Maintenance program and participate in it.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean, tidy and safe at all times.
  • Co-operate with the Safety Committee and adhere to all plant safety rules and policies, including wearing all Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and assist in its implementation on an ongoing basis.
  • Any other reasonable request made by management.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Ensure he/she is in full compliance with the laws of Ontario and/or any other province or state, while representing KIRCHHOFF Automotive or during the use of any KIRCHHOFF Automotive provided equipment.
  • Judgment – exercise judgment regarding:
    • Judging at what point a part/component does not meet quality or safety requirements and machines should be shut down and advising Area/Team Leader accordingly.
  • Accountability – is accountable in areas of:
    • Accurate setting of dies/machines/computers that contribute to the production of quality parts/components as per customer requirements.
    • Performing job-related activities as per safety guidelines IATF 16949/ISO14001.
  • Contacts – establish/maintain relationships:
    • Area Leaders, Supervisors, Team Leaders, Lead Hands, Operators, Forklift Drivers, Maintenance, Tool & Die Makers, and Quality.

Your Profile

Work Experience

  • Good knowledge of S.P.C. procedures.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies.
  • Manual dexterity.

Skills (language, technical, computer etc.)

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify potential problems when performing job functions.

Education

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Specialized trade courses in Welding and Robotics.
