About the role
CDL Drivers perform duties associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Reworld facilities and the Client’s sites. Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, trailers and roll-off trailers. The CDL Driver is required to have a good motor vehicle record and must operate all motor vehicles in accordance with local occupational health and safety, motor vehicle carrier requirements in Canada and the US and all local, provincial, state and federal laws.
Position Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment in a safe manner following DOT regulations and company policies and regulations.
- Operate commercial vehicle for extended periods of time, away from the home-base.
- Completing over-night stays within a commercial truck sleeper, or a hotel as required.
- Work alone or in isolated situations
- Drive commercial vehicle to pick up and transport waste to a designated location safely while meeting scheduled appointments and following all Transportation regulations.
- Ensure placarding of vehicle meets Transportation regulations.
- Maintain paperwork including expense reports, time sheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
- Secure cargo prior to and during transit.
- Complete additional assigned duties.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years commercial driving experience.
- Class AZ license / Class 1
- HazMat and Tanker experience / endorsements.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to use a tablet for E-Logs.
- Proven history of safe vehicle operation and compliance with transportation regulations
- Transboundary experience or willingness
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED preferred.
Physical Demands of the Role
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
- Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
- Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
- Consistently work in various weather conditions
