Mental Health Clinician

Alberta Health Services

Date: 1 week ago
City: Edmonton, AB
Salary: CA$39.48 - CA$52.5 per hour
Contract type: Full time

Your Opportunity:

Are you looking to make a positive impact in the lives of adolescents and families challenged with substance use, mental health, and/or psychosocial issues? This is the perfect opportunity for an innovative, creative healthcare professional to contribute to mental health and addiction! The Children, Youth & Families (CYF) portfolio within Recovery Alberta is leading the way in delivering a new program to help meet the needs of adolescents and families experiencing significant distress. In partnership with Children's Services and Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) leaders, we are collaborating to open a 6 bed, community-based, transitional supportive housing program that will work with families, youth and community partners to reduce time in the emergency room, improve safe and supported transitions back to parents or an alternate home environment, and address the existing gaps families experience when trying to navigate care. The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) is an integral member of the clinical team, providing screening, assessment and case management for youth residing in the program. The MHC will receive and process referrals, conduct risk assessments, and take the lead on case management and stakeholder consultation and case planning. The MHC will also provide short-term crisis intervention as needed, including in both individual and group format. The MHC will also coordinate case management conferences, provide input into intakes, discharges, and facilitate transition planning meetings. Additional duties may include therapeutic support for families, family counseling, and transition to other community-based supports internal and external to Recovery Alberta.

Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required.
