Research Assistant - Historical Photographs
University of Regina
This Research Assistant position involves helping to set up a database of historical photographs, which are being used as primary sources in an ongoing research project. The RA will be given digital copies of hundreds of photos taken during WWII, and will have to set up a basic database that catalogues the metadata of each photograph (name, archive the photograph comes from, location it was taken, etc.) and organizes them into one searchable location. In order to do so, the RA will have to use their own analytical and critical thinking skills to identify key information within the photographs and use this to help generate tags that will be used to tag and sort the photographs within the database. Training will be provided on both the database software and how to analyze the photographs.
