PVNC Catholic District School Board is hosting a job fair for our Northumberland schools (Cobourg, Port Hope, Grafton, Campbellford).

When: Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm (Onsite interviews from 5:00 - 7:00 pm)

Where: St. Mary Catholic Secondary School (1050 Birchwood Trail Cobourg)

Positions

Student Monitors ($24.33 /hr)

Supply Custodian ($26.30 /hr)

Supply Educational Assistant ($28.51 /hr)

Supply Secretary (Secondary) ($28.51 /hr)

Supply Secretary (Elementary) ($29.26 /hr)

Supply Early Childhood Educator ($29.29 /hr)

Requirements

For each position below, an equivalent combination of education and experience may also apply.

Student Monitor

Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent is required

Post-secondary education relating to children and youth is preferred

Prior experience (paid or volunteer) working with children is a strong asset

Ability to follow instructions and use initiative

Strong communication, judgement and decision making skills when interacting with students

Ability to read and understand student safety and/or behaviour plans and alert Principal/Vice Principal where necessary

Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of student information

Possess an understanding of and a willingness to support the mission of a Catholic School system

Creative, enthusiastic, patient and responsible team player

First Aid, CPR, BMS training is an asset

Supply Custodian

Completion of Grade 10 plus an additional vocational programme of up to one year or completion of Grade 11 or equivalent; and six months to one year’s work related experience.

Requires performing minor maintenance and servicing of mechanical, electrical or plumbing services.

Requires ability to use equipment; i.e., lawnmower, hedge trimmer, weed-eater, wet/dry vacuum, scrub machine, carpet cleaning machine, snow blower, germicidal cleaners and strippers, ladders, hand tools, etc.

Requires knowledge and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.).

Requires familiarity with Board and school policies and procedures; i.e., property rental, emergency situations, fire, etc.

Requires effective communication skills to cooperatively work with Board staff, students, parents and the general public.

Supply Educational Assistant

Requires O.S.S.D., plus two years of specialized training, i.e., Educational Assistant Program, Child Youth Worker, Autism Support Worker, Personal Support Worker or equivalent.

Requires knowledge of strategies and experience supporting students.

Requires knowledge of pertinent Board policies and directives such as Physical Intervention, Discipline, Administration of Medication and/or Special Services

Requires operating audio-visual and office equipment such as computer, projectors, photocopier, etc. and knowledge in the operation of equipment such as wheelchair, parapodium, walkers, etc.

Requires performing physical duties such as lifting, positioning students. May also include implementation of Behaviour Management Systems physical intervention strategies.

Requires communicating effectively and working cooperatively with students, Board personnel, parents, community agencies and organizations.

Supply Secretary

Requires O.S.S.D., plus one year of Office Administration, Secretarial/Business or equivalent.

Requires knowledge and skill in the use of computers for projects such as spreadsheets, graphics, data input and retrieval, word processing.Requires demonstrated proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Requires knowledge of pertinent Government legislation and Ministry and Board policies, directives, regulations and procedures.

Requires operating various office equipment (i.e. photocopier, calculator, public address system, etc.

Requires a high level of oral and written communication skills; the ability to perform the clerical duties required at the school; the ability to multitask and prioritize.

Requires communicating effectively and working cooperatively with students, Board personnel, parents, parish community, municipal organizations and agencies and the general public.

The ability to maintain, in the strictest confidence, information received concerning any school or staff matter.

Supply Registered Early Childhood Educator

Requires Early Childhood Education Diploma with a minimum of six months experience in an educational setting.

Proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.

Knowledge of current Ministry of Education Kindergarten Program.

Requires excellent interpersonal qualities and is able to work as a team.

Experience planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs.

Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Basic computer skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Requires knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services.

Requires performing physical duties such as lifting, carrying, extended periods of time walking/standing.

Proven ability to deal with difficult situations and to take appropriate action in stressful or emergency situations.
