Job Description

Production Assembler:

Assists the Team Lead or Team Charge Hand in all aspects of carrying out daily production tasks. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Assembly of low to moderate complexity components, sub-assemblies and assemblies to Manufacturing Engineering Instructions (MEI) & Verification Detail Sheets (VDS) for work elements and maintained by Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Perform rework on assembly utilizing the current rework procedures and tooling.
  • Verifies work through OV process and identifies defect trends as per training.
  • Set-up and operation of equipment, machines & collaborative robotics.
  • Cleaning of machines and equipment as outlined in MEI.
  • Operate and set up machines and test sets as outlined in MEI.
  • Have basic computer skills to report time and attendance, book time to operation report quality observations and operate machinery UI.
  • Meets all quality and efficiency standards in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Complies with all timekeeping, safety, Electric static discharge, material handling and calibration procedures.
  • Responsible for proper use of all standard equipment, systems and related accessories.
  • Use of soldering irons including surface mount technology (SMT) soldering techniques.
  • Operate semi-automatic, automatic and manual test equipment.
  • Works to ensure the general cleanliness of the plant area.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Grade 12 or equivalent experience and capability.
  • Basic soldering skills (preferred but not a requirement).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Good working knowledge of recognized industry workmanship standards.
  • Ability to work to complex instructions, whether written, pictorial, or verbal.
  • Good understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity without compromising quality standards.
  • Ability to meet physical job demands (handling of materials in excess of 37 lbs. on a continuous basis with/without powered assistance).
  • Attitude: has a positive can-do attitude in everyday work. Is able to deal with and support change.
