About This Role

As a Crematorium Operator at Cole Harbour Funeral Home & Crematorium located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to families during their end-of-life journey. You will oversee and perform all aspects of crematorium operations, ensuring the utmost dignity and respect for the deceased.

Key Qualifications And Demonstrated Abilities

  • Experience working as a crematorium operator would be an asset but is not required.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Funeral Director’s License.
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Good working knowledge of Mosaic
  • A valid driver’s license is required with a clean driving abstract.
  • A team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to multitask and set priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a consistently high level of accuracy.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Exemplifies Arbor’s values of integrity, trust, teamwork and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all crematorium duties in accordance with Arbor’s Crematorium Operator’s Manual.
  • Maintains crematorium by ensuring that all areas are swept, washed, dusted, vacuumed and disinfected.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and maintain storage system of all cremated remains.
  • Places casket in the cremation chamber through loading device, sets cremation chamber and monitors cremation process to ensure a complete cremation.
  • Processes and packages cremated remains into containers and ensures all containers are identified accurately.
