Do you have leadership skills and want to continue gaining a rewarding experience within the energy industry? In this role you will lead a team of electricians and instrumentation technicians across our Extraction Primary and Secondary assets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience within maintenance or operations in a heavy industrial environment
  • Five years’ experience working in a heavy industrial environment such as oil sands/petrochemical industry experience
  • A trade certificate or diploma or equivalent technical and operational experience; strong preference for Electrical & Instrumentation
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • Strong collaboration skills the enable relationship building with diverse teams

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a visible presence in the field to listen to employee feedback and asses safe work process effectiveness
  • Facilitate daily tool box talks, listen and action employee concerns
  • Facilitate individual 1 on 1 discussions with your employees each shift
  • Execute Suncor's collective bargaining agreement to ensure application in a fair and consistent manner
  • Ensure permit and lockout procedures are followed
  • Conduct daily field visits to verify controls for permitting, hazardous energy isolation, and other high-risk work
  • Lead incident investigations with your crew and implement corrective actions.
  • Use the SAP maintenance system to review, approve, assign, and close out work
  • Safely complete scheduled maintenance each shift, minimizing plant outages by optimizing resources
  • Collaborate with operations and planning to optimize production, set work priorities, and provide feedback on equipment performance and planning effectiveness

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
