Automation Technician, Junior - Plant 1 Afternoon Shift

Position Summary

Serve as a plant resource for line improvements, line automation, realignment of product flow equipment and machinery in conjunction with Engineering and Maintenance.

Job Summary

Act as a key resource for line improvements and automation, focusing on the realignment of product flow equipment and machinery in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance.

Responsibility

  • Work with manufacturing engineer, project engineers, and program managers, set up personnel and maintenance departments to reduce costs and remove non-value added material from productions lines
  • Work with program managers and project engineers at the APQP stage of a program start-up
  • Troubleshoot process automation problems
  • Work with engineering following PPAP approval in resolving non-value added processes
  • Work in design stage of processes both for start-up and current production projects
  • Perform root cause analysis failure
  • Perform periodically programmable logic controller (PLC) and program backup and maintain PLC program database
  • To verify proper performance, test and tune the units to specifications.
  • Analyze defects or malfunctions of mechanical units, report and validate results with maintenance or a supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the item.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance, including oil changes and lubrication, to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Ensure proper communication summarizing any troubleshooting or downtime to other shifts

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering, Robotics and Automation, or related technology diploma program or have a degree in Electrical Engineering would be an asset.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Highly motivated and able to work in a team environment
  • PLC programming experience specifically Allen Bradley (Siemens and Omron would be an asset)
  • Robot programming and integration knowledge, specifically ABB (Motoman and Fanuc would be an asset)
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints and pneumatic/hydraulic systems would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol.

Working Conditions

40 hours per week

In Production/Manufacturing environment

Monday To Friday, Mandatory Saturdays As Required
