Manager, Business Transformation

Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate Director – Partnership, Development and Innovation, the incumbent holds a strategic mandate in leading a major transformation of uOttawa-PDI’s business model to drive growth and net revenue-generating streams for the University. The role focuses on building long-term business relationships with large public and private sector organizations, both within Canada and in international markets. Key responsibilities include utilizing advanced business analytics and intelligence practices to diagnose organizational challenges and designing professional development solutions that enhance business performance and strategic outcomes in large organizations. The Manager reports findings to top-tier leaders of organizations and oversees the creation of tailored professional development solutions for multinational clients, collaborating with university faculties and subject-matter experts from a variety of industry sectors.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Organizational Transformation: Lead the overhaul of PDI’s business model, shifting from a service-oriented approach to a growth-driven and net revenue-generating structure. Collaborate with senior leadership to fundamentally redefine strategic objectives, organizational culture, and business operations.
Revenue Generation and Sales Leadership: Spearhead business development initiatives to expand revenue streams in both Canadian and international markets. Build and lead a high-performing sales team focused on securing major B2B contracts for customized professional development solutions.
Business Analytics (BA) & Business Intelligence (BI): Leverage business intelligence tools to guide strategic decision-making, assess market trends, and optimize sales strategies. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for international growth and revenue, adjusting strategies as needed. Regularly report to leadership on revenue growth, global expansion, and the progress of business transformation efforts.
Customized Client Solutions: Lead the development of tailored professional development solutions that align with the specific needs of multinational clients and foreign governments. Conduct client consultations to ensure program alignment with their goals and objectives. Measure and demonstrate the ROI of solutions provided through analytics and data-driven insights.
Leadership and Faculty Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams - including sales, product development, strategic marketing, and client services - to ensure alignment with business transformation goals. Partner with university faculties, especially the Telfer School of Business, to co-develop revenue-generating initiatives. Collaborate with the Marketing team to create global marketing campaigns that enhance brand visibility and drive growth.
International Market Expansion: Work with the Associate Director, Partnerships and Innovation, to identify and pursue opportunities in emerging international markets, including the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Build and nurture permanent relationships with multinational corporations, foreign governments, and multilateral organizations (e.g., UN, World Bank). Conduct market research and competitive analyses to adapt offerings to international client needs and cultural contexts.
What you will bring:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of experience in business intelligence, corporate training, and the creation of business solutions, with exposure to a variety of industry sectors.
- Proven track record of driving international business expansion and working with multinational corporations and foreign governments.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale business transformations.
- Expertise in using BI tools for strategy optimization and decision-making.
- Knowledge of educational technologies, ideally within a higher education environment.
- Business Transformation: Expertise in shifting organizations to revenue-driven models, particularly in professional services or B2B markets.
- Sales Leadership: Ability to develop and lead a high-performing sales team.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Proficient in using business analytics and BI tools to inform strategies.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Strong skills in engaging with international clients and stakeholders.
- International Business Development: Expertise in identifying and capturing global business opportunities.
