Maintenance Worker III Plumber (24-R940)
Bargaining Unit: IUOE- HRM
Status: Full Time
Department: Maintenance
Site: Hogarth Riverview Manor
Shifts: Days (and on-call 24/7 required during every seventh week)
Rate of Pay: $33.56 per hour
The Maintenance III - Multi Skill Trades person is responsible for the proper operation, maintenance of equipment / systems; including heating and cooling components of assigned St. Joseph's Care Group LTC (Long Term Care) sites. This is achieved through safe working practices, proper planning and inspections, and adhering to governing codes in the maintenance and installation of equipment at the sites. The individual will be also responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing all computerized energy monitoring equipment at the sites.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- A Valid Journeyman's 'Red Seal' trade qualification as a Steamfitter/Plumber/Millwrighting/HVAC in the Province of Ontario, preference given to HVAC.
- A combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in Steamfitter/Plumber/Millwrighting/HVAC is usually required; or
- A combination of several years of work experience in a stationary engineering trade plus completion of a high school, college or industry program are required. Progression from lower to higher classes for stationary or power engineers is dependent on further training and experience.
- Gas technician licensing is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient computer skills for accessing of information, updating preventative maintenance program and/or equipment troubleshooting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and work from manuals, plans and drawings.
- Knowledge of work-related codes and regulations.
- Must be able to work accurately, quickly and use safe work practices.
- Physically capable of walking, standing and heavy lifting for prolonged periods of time.
- Valid Class G driver's license with adequate insurance.
Assets:
- Experience in (BAS) building operation systems.
- Refrigeration certification.
- Building Controls training and certification.
- Knowledge of commercial building plumbing systems, including repair experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to travel to various work locations as required and provide own transportation.
- Must be available for "on call" requests after normal working hours.
