This student role supports the Cenovus Atlantic Region Deployed H&S team to ensure the operation meets assigned goals and objectives related to Heath, Safety, Environment and Quality performance. The individual in this position is responsible for providing support to the Operations Health and Safety team as part of the functional support provided to Atlantic Region Operations. This includes all operational and other functional groups within the Atlantic Region. The student will be exposed to many practical Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality functions during their work term.

What you’ll do
- Assist with assurance and verification activities, including use of tools such as iAuditor, Intelex, etc.
- Support incident investigations.
- Manage and review documents (i.e.: data entry, taking minutes, filing etc.).
- Manage data and updates to the iAuditor verification tool.
- Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings.
- Gather/review/distribute safety-related statistical information and safety alerts.
- Participate in hazard and risk assessments.
- Interpret, communicate, and reinforce safety standards to workforce.
- Support ongoing H&S initiatives.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
- Available to begin work in May 2025.
- The individual in this position will exhibit the following organizational competencies: Safely gets results, enables agility, communicates with impact, fosters collaboration.
- The individual is self-motivated and proactive to ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and project requirements.
- Possess excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
Education
- Must be enrolled in an Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or Safety Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
- Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
- New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
Working Conditions
- May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
