Cenovus Energy is currently recruiting for an Engineering Student to join the White West Rose Marine Operations Team. This role is an entry-level position specific to a Senior or Junior Engineering student, so they can gain valued experience to work on the West White Rose Project (WWRP) with an emphasis in Marine Operations (i.e. planning of safe execution of Marine Related Activities/Operations for WWRP). The successful candidate will report directly to the Concrete Gravity Structure (CGS) Marine Operations Engineer while also supporting other Marine related scopes such as Topsides Transport, Subsea Installation, and Marine Rock/Dredging.
What you’ll do
- Project Engineering support for the Marine Operations Team for proper planning and safe execution of Marine Operations.
- This includes timely review of Contractor Technical Engineering Deliverables.
- Facilitate and collate comment response sheets for Contractor Deliverables.
- Attend Marine Operations Technical Contractor Meetings (i.e. minute recording, addressing actions, etc.).
- Support Engineering Leads for actioning risk items in ATMS.
- Ensuring Contractor Interface Agreements are addressed and closed in a timely manner.
- Support other facets of Marine Operations Team which includes Project Controls & Supply Chain.
- Attend CGS Technical Engineering Meetings.
- Collaborate with Marine Warranty Surveyor to ensure all activities related to Marine Warranty are addressed and closed in a timely manner.
- Provide Safety & Diversity Moments during Marine Team Meetings & Contractor Meetings.
- Provide technical presentation to Marine Team at end of work semester, specific to their roles and responsibilities on what they had learned over the work-term duration.
Who you are
- Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
- Available to begin work in May 2025.
- Familiar with Microsoft based applications such as Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.
- Have a basic understanding of Structural Engineering & Naval Architectural Engineering concepts as related to the Oil & Gas Industry for major Projects.
- Familiar with using AutoCAD.
- Technical Writing skills.
- Adaptability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to be willing to take on responsibility and address items in a timely manner.
- Good organizational skills.
- Value a diverse working environment.
Education
- Must be enrolled in a Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Architectural Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
- Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
- New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
