Summary
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services for assigned facilities. This role includes ensuring work is performed in accordance with established processes and practices and is compliant with all requirements including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection. The Maintenance Team Leader also performs and delivers maintenance services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Leads a team of individual contributors
- Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors work progress
- Monitors execution of activities and performance to ensure timely completion and adherence to all requirements
- Guides, coaches, and trains direct reports
- Provides input for performance review
Delivery of Services
- Oversees and monitors activities and performance of Technicians within assigned facility
- Ensures activities are performed according to established processes and requirements
- Performs regular monitoring and inspection, maintenance to ensure facility uptime objectives are met
- Conducts facility walkthroughs and equipment inspections
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment
- Responds to routine and on-demand service requests
- Maintains work order records within service management maintenance database
- Coordinates and assists in implementing a preventative maintenance program
- Participates in facility-related projects
- Maintains tools and submits expenditures on time
- Supports training, safety meetings, and operational meetings
- Available for on-call/standby and emergency callouts
- Enhances tenant and customer satisfaction
- Other duties as assigned
Work Requirements
- Available to be on-call and respond to emergencies
- Willing to wear personal protective equipment
Knowledge and Skills
- 5 years of facility operations and maintenance experience
- Previous people leadership experience preferred
- High school diploma plus trades training and certification
- Ability to lead a team
- Advanced ability to adhere to processes related to facility operations and maintenance
- Advanced ability to maintain and repair building systems
- Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills
- Knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards
- High level of environmental, health, and safety mindset
- Strong client-service orientation
- Effective communication skills
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
One or more of the following would be an asset:
- Journeyman level Refrigeration license
- Journeyman level Electrical license
- Journeyman level Plumbing license
- Power Engineering 3rd Class or 4th Class
- Building Operator Certification
- Gasfitter I or II
- Systems Maintenance Administration Certification
