The Role
SLR is looking for a Senior Remediation Specialist to join our dynamic and experienced team of environmental solution providers. We are looking for a highly motivated professional who can bring knowledge of remediation approaches, technologies, and innovation to our highly engaged and collaborative remediation team. As a senior practitioner, you will be a key contributor to our technical service offerings, designing and implementing innovative remedial solutions and providing sound technical advice to our clients.
In addition to your technical skills, you will use your ability to apply regulatory knowledge, client service, and people skills, to strategically develop and manage client relationships and help grow our services. You will have significant experience working with clients to develop technical scopes of work, proposal preparation, and the successful management and delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic and technical remedial consulting advice to clients and to SLR staff and managers working on complex remedial projects across Canada.
- Preparing Remedial Options Analyses, Remedial Action Plans, pilot study scope of works, engineering designs and supporting technical documentation including reports, drawings, correspondence, cost to closure estimates, work plans, and specifications for submission to clients and regulators.
- Managing successful project delivery with respect to health & safety, scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC and client satisfaction.
- Pursuing opportunities with clients in a variety of sectors.
- Collaborating with other SLR disciplines to expand SLR’s services and/or cross-selling SLRs services to provide an expanded suite of services to existing SLR clients.
- Leading and supporting business development and proposal initiatives to achieve business development and strategic goals.
- Mentoring junior and intermediate staff, providing guidance, and assisting in their development.
- Keeping abreast of emergent technologies or techniques to further the state of the practice.
- Participating in and/or managing and overseeing remedial field works of contractors and SLR staff.

- Competitive total compensation plan including a base salary in the $150,000-$180,000 range and industry competitive benefits (vacation, benefits, and a suite of wellness initiatives). Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
- Full-time, permanent role with flexible scheduling available (core hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm)

- Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., environmental engineering, civil engineering, earth systems science) - a Master’s level degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Knowledge of provincial, local and industry specific regulations and guidelines and best available methodologies in remediation and site characterization
- Experience in:
- developing and implementing remediation plans for all environmental media
- designing, installing, and evaluating in-situ remedial systems or field applications
- managing remedial and environmental projects and project teams
- contract management or tender specification of large remedial projects
- successful business development, client management, and preparation of proposals
- overseeing performance monitoring and providing technical review of reporting
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in BC, AB, or other provincial jurisdictions
- Valid driver’s license and willingness/ability to undertake short term travel in Canada and the US
