Medicine Hat College’s Student Supports is welcoming internal applications for a full time Acting Academic Advisor. This is a full-time, term specific leave replacement with a possibility of an extension. The anticipated end date for this position is March 31, 2025.
A little about the role:
The Academic Advisor works directly with students to help them achieve their educational goals. Reporting to the Director, Student Supports, the primary areas of responsibility for the Academic Advisor is to provide professional guidance and accurate information to current and prospective students regarding program and course selection, admission requirements, transferability of courses, policies and procedures, act as agents of referral for student support services, and plan and implement individual student education plans. This position also participates with recruiting, marketing, and promoting the College when required by attending recruitment fairs or functions.

As a successful applicant you'll have:
- An undergraduate University Degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and work experience.
- Two years related work experience preferably in a post-secondary educational environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of post-secondary systems, with particular attention to students’ program transition requirements from high school to college to university in Alberta.
- Knowledge of Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT) and the Transfer Alberta Search tool.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to advise students and provide information.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, & an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Student focused and committed to the value of post-secondary education.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications.
The annual salary range for this position is: $62,143 - $73,384.
