Category Manager - Global Foods

Position Summary

The Merchant designs, develops, and executes strategies for medium-complexity categories, achieving profit and loss deliverables and selling products at unbeatable prices.

What you'll do

1. Accountable for merchandise profit and loss management and category financial results, including planning, management to ensure forecasts, sales, and inventory targets are met. Communicates results to cross-functional partners.
2. Develop category strategies that align with the merchant framework using multiple data sources, conducting assortment analysis and determining strategic decisions.
3. Initiate, negotiate, and manage vendor agreements and relationships to drive performance.
4. Responsible for category marketing and media execution, ensuring accuracy and effective strategies for inventory management.
5. Accountable for new item and promotional forecasts, managing pricing adjustments and exits strategies as necessary.
6. Prepare and lead line reviews and deliver seasonal sets, ensuring effective execution at the store level.
7. Attend trade shows and buying trips to enhance product categories and align with corporate strategy.
8. Provide coaching and direction to Category Team Analysts, Associate Merchants, and vendors.

Qualifications

• College Diploma or Certificate
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Retail industry experience preferred
• Strong commodity knowledge and negotiation skills
